The Wedding Library

Terms

These are the terms for using The Wedding Library — the website at weddings.godjitech.com and the app for iPhone and Android. They are short because the service is simple; the part about money is the part worth reading twice.

Who we are

The Wedding Library is operated by Godji Tech, a company based in South Africa. Questions about these terms go to hello@godjitech.com. How we handle personal information is in our privacy policy, which forms part of these terms.

Your account

Browsing vendors and real weddings needs no account. Messaging a vendor, shortlisting, planning a wedding, or listing a business does. You are responsible for what is done from your account and for keeping its password to yourself. You must be at least 18 to hold one.

You can delete your account at any time from the app or the website. Deleting it removes your wedding, your guest list and your album; messages you sent to a vendor stay in that vendor’s inbox, because they were sent to them.

Couples and guests

Your wedding is private unless you publish it to the library. When you do, the couple’s names, the date and city, the story you wrote and the photographs you chose become visible to anyone, including in the app’s Real Weddings feed. Your full album never does. You can unpublish at any time.

Guests who add photos to an album give the couple the right to keep and share them as part of that wedding. Photographs you add must be yours to add, and must not be of anyone who would not want them there.

Wedding businesses

A listing must be accurate: prices, availability, what is included, and photographs of your own work. Reviews come from couples who booked you through the service; you cannot write, edit or remove them. We may remove a listing that misrepresents a business or treats couples badly, and we will tell you why.

An enquiry or a quote through The Wedding Library is a conversation between you and the couple. The contract for the work is between the two of you, on whatever terms you agree; we are not a party to it.

Cash gifts sent through us

A guest can send a couple a cash gift by paying it to The Wedding Library with the couple’s reference. When they do, this is what happens:

  • We keep a service fee of each gift as our fee for providing the service, and pass the rest to the couple. A guest who sends R1 000 is sending the couple R1 000 less that fee.
  • Gifts are paid to the couple within ten working days of the money clearing in our account, by electronic transfer to the bank account the couple gave us. We do not pay out to anyone else.
  • A gift with a wrong or missing reference is held until we can match it. If we cannot match it within 60 days we return it to the account it came from, less any bank charges we incurred.
  • A gift is a gift: once it has been paid to the couple it cannot be reversed by us. Before payout, a guest can ask for it back by writing to hello@godjitech.com from the email address on their account, and we will return it less bank charges.
  • We hold gift money in a separate account and never use it for anything but paying it out or returning it.

By sending a gift you agree to the above. By publishing a wedding and accepting gifts through us, a couple agrees to receive them on these terms and to keep their payout details with us up to date.

What we are not responsible for

We provide the planning tools, the directory and the album. We do not vet vendors beyond what a listing shows and what a verification badge says, we are not responsible for the work a vendor does or does not do, and we are not responsible for a wedding going the way it was planned. To the extent the law allows, our liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

Ending things

You can stop using the service at any time. We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, harms other people using the service, or is used for anything unlawful — and we will say why. If we ever close the service itself, we will give at least 60 days’ notice and a way to export your wedding.

Changes and law

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will put the date at the top and, for anything about money, tell account holders by email before it takes effect. These terms are governed by the law of South Africa.
